Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur saw a bandh on Monday, days after the death of a 23-year-old during a communal clash in Bemetara district led to tension in and around the area. The bandh call was given by VHP, Bajrang Dal and others demanding action in connection with the Bhuneshwar Sahu, with the opposition BJP also lending support.
According to police, protesters from different outfits also resorted to stone pelting, including at police personnel.
Police also said two mudhouses of people from the minority community near Biranpur in Bemetara district, where the clashes had taken place last week, were set ablaze.
Arun Sao, state in-charge for Chhattisgarh BJP and a Member of Parliament, led a group of 200 supporters to visit Sahu’s family.
