Hours after the encounter killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his aideGhulam, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the UP Special Task Force team at a meeting on law and order on Thursday, news agency ANI reported.
Yogi lauded the efforts of the DGP, Special DG (law and order) and the entire team. A report on the encounter was submitted before the CM, the chief minister’s office said.
Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his aide Ghulam, both of whom were wanted in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case, were killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday in Jhansi. The duo carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh each.
The UP STF team led by Deputy SP Navendu and Vimal also recovered sophisticated foreign-made weapons from the accused, Special Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said.
Meanwhile, addressing media persons, Special DG, Law & Order, Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kumar said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against mafia, the result of which is before everyone today.
