An intruder was killed after Army troops on Saturday night foiled a major infiltration attempt by some people from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Poonch.

Alert troops detected suspicious movement by a group of individuals on the intervening night of April 8 and 9, Army PRO Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said in Jammu. Troops deployed close to the barbed wire fence challenged them. During the ensuing operation, one of the intruders was killed. “One dead body has been seen,” he said.

The other intruders, meanwhile, ran towards the forest area. The officer added that the area has been cordoned off and searches are underway.
