Amid a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in the country, India logged 1,890 new coronavirus cases, the highest in 149 days, in the last 24 hours.
As per the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday, the number of active cases in the country has surged to 9,433 and the total death toll has risen to 5,30,831 with seven new fatalities. While Maharashtra and Gujarat reported two deaths each, three were reconciled by Kerala.
The daily positivity and weekly positivity were recorded at 1.56 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, hospitals across the country will check preparedness for handling Covid-19 and cases of other respiratory infections during a mock drill scheduled for April 10 and 11.

As per the advisory, both public and private hospitals will take stock of preparedness in terms of drugs, beds, ICU, medical equipment, medical oxygen, and human resources during the mock drill.Covid case tally was pegged at 4.47 crore (4,47,04,147) even as active cases now comprise 0.02 per cent of the total infections.As per the ministry, the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.79 per cent.

Under the nationwide vaccination drive, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
